GROUPING PEOPLE
If your training program requires participants to break out into smaller groups, you may want to consider using our GROUPING CARDS. Every time you ask people to break out in groups, you realise it takes more time than you thought. There is general confusion before they find themselves in the right group.
With the 'GROUPING CARDS' all you have to do is let them know that “they are going to break out in smaller groups using the attributes on the grouping card”, example: All A’s to form one group, B’s another and so on, and very quickly you will be able to form 4 small groups. No need to go around assigning alphabets and numbers every time you want to form groups. The concept is extremely simple yet very effective by design.

How does it work?
Distribute a card to every participant on the course, each with its own attributes. Based on the number of groups or group size you want, you simply select a particular attribute of the card. For pairs you select number, for trios you go with colour, for groups of four go with symbols and so on.

New topics under development. Coming Soon...
The Card Sort activity consists of 'Category or Term' cards and 'Discriptor' cards.
The trainer can ask participants to break up in small groups and then give each group a set of cards consisting of both category and Discriptor cards. The cards should be shuffled well. Ask each group to sort the cards by matching the Discriptor cards with the category card. Ask the group to make a teaching presentation about their category.
Alternatively, the category and Discriptor cards can be distributed amongst participants. Ask them to walk around and find the matching cards.
Yet another way of using the cards is to play the game ‘dozens’ developed by Thaigi S. Split participants into groups of 3 or 5. Place the category cards on each table. The tallest player for instance becomes the first player. Other players take turns to be the first player in subsequent rounds. The first player picks the top card of the packet. He/she reads the category aloud and shows the card to the other players.
The first player selects any other player to compete with him/her. This person is called the contestant.
The first player says an item that belongs to the category.
The contestant immediately says a different item that belongs to the same category.
The two players take turns alternatively supplying another new item that belongs to the same category.
One of these two players loses the round if he/she commits any of these three errors:
- Hesitates too long before saying an item
- Repeats an item that was already said
- Says an item that does not belong to the category
When a player loses, the other person wins. The winner picks up the card and places it in front of him/her.
After each round, the next player (on the left of the previous player) becomes the new first player. The game proceeds as before.
Game ends when all cards are played out. The person who has won the most cards is the winner of the game.
You can also allocate points to groups for each correct answer.
Process the activity by asking participants
What they thought about the activity. Was it helpful?
What did they learn from this activity?
In-order to avoid mix-ups, remember to collect all cards immediately after completing this activity.
Using graphics in place of words can be used to create a Card Sort variation.
